Free L&D Courses in Wales for Early Talent

Jack Taylor, Employer & Partnerships Manager

In Wales, we are fortunate in that there are so many free courses available for people looking to learn whilst they earn!

Whether you are an employer looking to develop your learning & development for your staff, or a graduate looking for courses to support you in your new/upcoming role, then it’s worth checking out the following which are all completely FREE for both employers and staff in Wales:

Personal Learning Accounts

Personal Learning Accounts are available to employees in Wales earning under £30,596 a year. By setting up an account you can access part-time study on specific courses alongside your current employment, which are delivered by colleges in Wales.

OpenLearn: The Open University

The Open University’s OpenLearn platform offers thousands of free courses for people looking to upskill. The platform includes courses to develop ‘work skills’ that can be completed online and in your own time, making it a very flexible option for both employers and employees.

Degree Apprenticeships

Degree Apprenticeships in Wales are fully funded for both employers and students! As a student, you can earn whilst you learn with zero study fees and there are also no costs for the course for employers. Employers can also access this funding to not only upskill existing staff but to also recruit new staff.

We are fortunate in that there are so many options in Wales when it comes to learning & development, but it does create a challenge for both employers and learners when it comes to finding a course that is right.
