Gwilym is an innovative and experienced post-graduate scientist and technology consultant with over 16 years of direct industry experience working on device testing and characterisation, early-stage R&D and product development (including work within ISO 13485 ISO 9001, ATEX and cleanroom environments). With a broad experience across a wide range of disciplines prior to joining PA, Gwilym has formally worked as a subject matter expert in areas as diverse as medical devices, nozzle / spray characterisation, fuel cells / hydrogen infrastructure, gas metering, microscopy, agronomy / agritech and data analysis. Currently aligned to the Health and Life sciences team within PA, Gwilym specialises in early-stage front-end research and development, device characterisation and testing, scale-up for manufacture, technology landscaping and due diligence projects. He has worked extensively across a wide range of sectors, including medical / healthcare devices and consumer products, and is actively engaged in Drug Delivery business development. As a Fellow of the Royal Microscopical Society, Gwilym has significant expertise in optical and electron microscopy and initiated and led the procurement of a new SEM and EDS system (> £200k capital investment) which he now manages and runs within PA Consulting. Gwilym also uses his expertise across a range of analytical techniques and instrumentation to advise on testing programmes, experimental design, materials and device characterisation and root cause / failure analysis. Known for his organisational abilities and attention to detail, Gwilym has previously worked as a scientific copyeditor for internationally recognised and peer reviewed scientific journals and is regularly in demand for his advanced spreadsheet and data analysis expertise.
