Purpose of Job

•Ensuring that the people of Gwynedd are central to everything we do.

•Support the Council's Leadership Team including the Leader, the Chief Executive and the Directors to fulfill their responsibilities

•Undertake specific functions within the executive team to support the work of the leadership team

Responsibility for Resources. . e.g. staff, finance, equipment

Main Duties.

•Provide executive support to the Council's leadership team including the Leader and Deputy Leader to help them exercise their role as well as act as part of the Team that supports the work of the Chief Executive and the Directors. This will necessarily mean undertaking a wide range of duties as required. These duties include:

•Carry out research and identify key trends in various areas providing regular support and updates.

•Compile minutes of meetings and produce discussion/evidence papers as required

•Support with performance challenge arrangements.

•Look at good practice in other organisations.

•Responsibility for ensuring regular proactive communication with Council Members and the people of Gwynedd.

•Support the Leadership Team in various meetings as required

•Keep an overview of reports to the Council's committees (and in other organisations) drawing the attention of relevant issues to the members of the Leadership Team.

•Research and provide briefing notes to the Leader/Deputy Leader as required.

•Collaborate closely with stakeholders in various areas, building an effective and influential relationship with the Council's principal officers, Cabinet Members and external stakeholders as required.

•Play a full part as the service establishes what is important to the people of Gwynedd.

•Play a full role in developing the team's operating principles together with personal responsibility for adhering to them.

•Act flexibly within the Team's operating principles to achieve what is important to the residents of Gwynedd.

•Continuously look for opportunities to improve the service identifying issues that prevent the team from delivering effectively and efficiently and take action to resolve them.

•Ensure that the information needed to prove how well we achieve what is important is kept using that information to improve service.

•Contribute and take appropriate decisions in order to achieve what is important to the people of Gwynedd

•Assisting other teams to achieve what is important to the people of Gwynedd

•Act in a proactive way; being open to thinking differently; energetic and committed with personal integrity in order to fulfill the above functions.

•Being responsible for personal development in order to be able to carry out the job.

•Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities set out in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council's Health and Safety Policy.

•Acting within the Council's policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.

•Responsibility for managing information in accordance with the Council's information management standards and guidelines. Ensure that personal information is handled in compliance with Data Protection legislation

•A commitment to reduce the Council's carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan and to encourage others to take positive action towards reducing the Council's carbon footprint.

•Undertake any other equivalent and reasonable duty that matches the salary level and level of responsibility of the position.

•Responsibility to report concerns or suspicions that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.•
